Abstract
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) has gained significant attention in recent years as an effective approach to improving the quality of higher education by focusing on clearly defined learning outcomes, student-centered teaching, and continuous assessment. This study aims to explore the key determinants of the Outcome-Based Education system and examine their mediating role in enhancing the quality of education at the tertiary level in Bangladesh. The research identifies several important determinants, including effective OBE curriculum design, institutional support, faculty competency, assessment and evaluation systems, and the practical execution of OBE principles. The study employed a quantitative research methodology which collected primary data through a structured questionnaire from participants who included students and faculty members and academic administrators and coordinators from public and private universities. The study applied a sampling technique which enabled researchers to gather responses from multiple stakeholder groups who would provide valuable insights into how OBE programs are currently being implemented throughout Bangladesh. The study results demonstrate that the identified determinants positively affect the successful implementation of Outcome-Based Education. The research outcomes demonstrate that OBE practices function as a vital mediating factor between institutional elements and educational quality outcomes. The study found that institutional resources and support become effective when educational institutions apply OBE principles through their actual classroom practices. The challenges prevent educational institutions from experiencing the complete advantages which Outcome-Based Education gives to their students. The research contributes to existing academic research by presenting empirical evidence which establishes the elements that determine OBE implementation success in Bangladesh. The research delivers essential information to university decision makers and educators which enables them to build better OBE implementation methods for teaching improvements. The study demonstrates that universities which implement a comprehensive Outcome-Based Education system will achieve better educational results through their modern workforce training programs.
